A learning interview from a Successful Entrepreneur

What began as a nightmare project for us, turned out not only as a wonderful learning experience but also as a fruitful one. Till two days back, I was cursing Sir as to what type of a project he has given us-Meeting  a CEO, then video shoot him, ask him about his experience etc…….. But now I would like to thank Neville Sir for giving us such a unique project, in which we spoke to someone totally unknown to us and who has been a successful entrepreneur.

For us the main question was not to meet a CEO but from where to find a CEO who will provide us with all of the above because in our group all of us have a traditional family business or one of our team members’ family is working for the Merchant Navy , with no connection to e-commerce. After several calls to different offices, we got the usual and the expected answer – ‘We don’t have time’  or ‘We won’t allow you to video-shoot, you can give a questionnaire which we will fill and give you back.’ We lost hope and had made up our mind that we should be ready to sacrifice 15 marks at this juncture.

But the plus point of this project for me was that I actually learnt the hands on power of networking. Having lost hope, we just kept our BB status as ‘Anyone having an extra CEO plz revert …urgently required for Ecom project’ and we luckily one of my friends told me that he has a friend whose friend works in an Ecommerce related Business and his boss would be able to help us with our project and this is how we found Mr Paritosh Likhite, Founder & CEO, THE GIFTOPIA

The experience with Mr Paritosh Likhite is an unforgettable one. The man shared with us not only how he started as an entrepreneur but also his future plans. We all have always thought of becoming entrepreneurs and start our own firm but we didn’t know how, before this interview. He taught us how to be strong even in ups and downs and how to be motivated in the ups and how not to get demotivated during the downs. The work that he does is created by his own thought and helps in creating new ideas which I feel is the secret behind his success.

We don’t see things as they are, we see things as we are.

As we are learning O.B  it is becoming quite clear as to our decisions are made. The decisions are generally based on our perception of what reality is, and not on reality itself.

This can be understood as different individuals may look at the same thing, yet perceive it differently. If you expect the police officer to be corrupt you may think them as such regardless of their actual traits.

The above stated facts can be easily be proved through a medium of  a movie because when you view and experience something that has a higher impact on your mind rather then just listening from someone or just reading it. The Movie is quite old and is in Black and White, I know how difficult it is to see a black and white movie in today’s world  but I request you to watch the movie 12 Angry Men.

I will just give a jest of the movie  12 Angry Men (1957) is a very ambiguous film and it's open to many interpretations. On one hot summer day in the 1950s, 12 jurors meet in a room to come to a verdict in a murder trial. Everything seems to be going against the teenage boy whose father was stabbed to death with a knife. The evidence is damning and it doesn't help that he's a poor kid from the slums. All of the jurors think the kid's guilty, except for one: Henry Fonda's character Juror #8. They sit in the hot room arguing about the evidence, witness testimony and circumstances. It gets very heated in more ways than one. The final verdict is reached after what seems like a very long time. Was it justice? Was it the result of the frustrations of being in a very hot room for way too long? Was it manipulation? Who knows? And that's the thing. No one ever really knows the truth in circumstances such as these. You just try your very best.

In end while making an important decision about someone it is very important that our perception does not dominate our thought process there as to a balance between the thought process and perception.
